Some Soldiers Mom

Special thank to Lori for bringing this to my attention, and Blackfive for covering it so closely.  Some Soldiers Mom, a magnificent woman who I was fortunate enough to spend a few hours with on the Web of Support tour, has faced an extremely difficult 24 hours.  Her son was seriously injured in Iraq, suffering a spinal injury in an IED blast.  Updates continue to come in, but please keep Noah in your prayers as well as his family, they need all the support they can get.  Visit Some Soldier Mom here: http://somesoldiersmom.blogspot.com/.

Web of Support

Also, be sure to check out www.webofsupport.com today as well.  The soldier adoption program is growing by leaps and bounds and is being headed by PJ out of Carson City, NV.  If you're interested in adopting a soldier, please check in on the site and let PJ know you're interested!

Joe Nurre

Joenurre Today, a family in Sacramento needs our prayers.  Joe Nurre, a young man who I went to college with at California State University Sacramento, died serving somewhere near Tikrit.  Joe was a good friend to many people in the Sacramento community.  He is a hero who served this country and gave his life for you, just like all the other men and women who have died in service of our nation.  When you pray today, pray for Joe's family, pray for our military in harms way, and be sure to tell God to pass a thank you on to Joe, we are forever indebted to men like him.

Web of Support, Colonel North and Wired Mag

Sm13_08_1 The Web of Support Tour around the country continues to be one of the most heartwarming experiences of my life.  You can read all about it, as well as see some of the pictures from the road trip, at www.webofsupport.com.  In the meantime, I have been fortunate enough to have some coverage of the project by Oliver North, as well as an excellent story to raise awareness for milblogs in Wired Magazine.  The article from Colonel North can be found here, and includes the wonderful quote in an open letter to Jane Fonda:

Hopefully at some point during your Jihadist journey, you will bump into Sgt. Christopher Missick of the 319th Signal Battalion. While in Iraq, Missick met hundreds of good Americans through his blog, "A Line in the Sand." Home now, he and a fellow veteran are driving around the country -- fueled by conventional gasoline -- to meet some of the patriots -- his "web of support" -- who sent letters, packages and prayers. He wants to personally thank them and "meet the heart of America."

That's the kind of support the troops appreciate, not your caravan of craven critics.

The Wired article appears in the August issue and is entitled The Blogs of War.

Web of Support

I just wanted everyone reading to know that today marks the beginning of my planned road trip through America to meet many of the individuals who supported me and my unit throughout our year long deployment with Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Most of my blogging will be at www.webofsupport.com, and I plan on posting my writings from the road on an almost daily basis.  There are so many exciting things happening through this experience, and I hope you follow me and my friends Ryan and Kyle as we hit the highways to explore the hearts of American patriots.

Family Vacation

LAX  is bustling as I sit at the airport here preparing  to catch a flight to  Philly and then to Ireland.  We have been planning the trip for years and today it is finally here.  I guess it would figure that O'Connnor would resign today when I will be without news  and heading out of our nation!  Oh well, I guess it will really force me to relax before we begin work on the project.  I'll find as many internet cafes as I can to keep you all updated!

KOLO Video

Be sure to view the interview on KOLO Channel 8 from Carson City last night by clicking here.  PJ is doing a wonderful job getting publicity for the project www.webofsupport.com which is set to begin July 17.  I am still mapping out the rest of the tour, but she has done some amazing work to make the "kick-off" event in Carson City absoltuely fantastic.  As it stands, you are all welcome to come to the Casino Fandango on July 17 at 6 PM to bring donations that will be sent to the 150th (SFC Galatas' group that it still in Iraq), and to enjoy meeting some outstanding individuals who are doing all they can to support the troops.
